Continuous casting machine is a general term for equipment for continuous casting of steel. It continuously injects molten steel into a water-cooled crystallizer through an intermediate tank, condenses it into a shell, and then pulls it out of the crystallizer at a certain speed. After being cooled by water spray, it is cut into continuous casting billets of a specified length. There are various types of continuous casting machines, and the following are classifications based on different characteristics:
1、 Vertical continuous casting machine
The vertical continuous casting machine is the earliest type of continuous casting machine, characterized by pulling and straightening the billet in a vertical state. This type of continuous casting machine has a relatively simple structure, but it is relatively tall and requires certain requirements for the factory building and equipment foundation. Vertical continuous casting machines are mainly used for producing square and round billets, suitable for small and medium-sized steel enterprises.
2、 Arc-shaped continuous casting machine
The arc continuous casting machine is currently the most widely used type of continuous casting machine. Its characteristic is that the casting billet bends in an arc shape during the casting process, which is beneficial for reducing equipment height and facilitating operation and maintenance. The arc continuous casting machine is suitable for producing various cross-sectional shapes of castings, such as slabs, square billets, and rectangular billets, and is easy to achieve high-speed casting and automation control.
3、 Horizontal continuous casting machine
Horizontal continuous casting machine is a relatively special type of continuous casting machine, characterized by pulling and straightening the billet in the horizontal direction. This type of continuous casting machine has a compact structure, occupies a small area, but has a high level of equipment complexity. Horizontal continuous casting machine is mainly used for producing small section billets, such as wire and rod, and is suitable for continuous casting production of special steel grades and non-ferrous metals.
4、 Other types of continuous casting machines
In addition to the three main types of continuous casting machines mentioned above, there are also some specially designed continuous casting machines, such as double flow or multi flow continuous casting machines, thin slab continuous casting machines, etc. These continuous casting machines are designed for specific production processes and requirements to meet the production needs of different steel enterprises.
In summary, the classification of continuous casting machines is mainly based on their structural characteristics, production processes, and application scenarios. Different types of continuous casting machines play their respective advantages in steel production, providing important support for the development of the steel industry.
